We had a very interesting speaker this year when we volunteered on Pine Ridge. He was and is an active member of AIM and participated in Wounded Knee II. He still activates people to protest and lives off the grid on the reservation, right amid the land that used to be a bombing range. I asked him who gets riled up first, people from our generation, i.e. the 70’s or younger people. He smiled and said that our age gets riled up first but that all soon are active.
