I’ll see if I can help.
What is the source of your info on Charles Dunn being b. “Mecklenburg Co., Va”?

My Dunn lines trace back to Northampton County N.C. and I’ve seen Charles Dunn listed in Mecklenburg County Va. on census and also FPC lists. Also migrations to S.C. of other Dunn lines. I can’t seem to find information on Charles I think that he was born about 1776 in Mecklenburg County Va.
Nyah-weh for the response

In Land Entry Books for that area, I’ve looking at a John (1740s) and a Walter / Waters Dunn (1760s) as candidates for the surname. Both Dunns lived adjoining land that Thomas Collins and Valentine Gibson had made improvements on, per those Land Entry Books. You can use the “search” button in the top, upper right of the forum for additional information on those two people. Don’t know that I can expand on this, but it’s worth a try.

I will see if I can’t find out more on the information that you have given me. I have alot of John Dunns in my family and I think my grandmother talked of a Walter Dunn,my grandfather died before I was born,he also was a John born in Northampton County N.C. My father was a John also and was born in Hertford County N.C. Nyah-weh again and I will search this.

I saw Charles Dunn on the 1820 Mecklenburg Co. Va census but he is not on the 1830 census.I,m assuming that he had died or moved out of the county. He was born before 1776. He was listed in the 1820 census with 7 free persons of color. I can remember hearing of a Charles Dunn in our family.I wish that some of my older relatives were still alive so I could maybe figure some of this out.
Oo-neh for now
Mike
