I was looking at a site called Tuckahoe Indians yesterday and read where Elsey George was listed on these rolls. On the churchill roll her number was #706 and the hester roll her number was #1306. Her Indian name was Al Sih Bearmeat. My Elsey George had a grandaughter named after her who was Elsey George . The person that posted this said that she believed that they were grandmother and grandaughter that was listed on these postings. I was wondering if anyone had access to any of these rolls? That way I could find out if there is any truth to this. I also wanted to share wwith you something that I think is really interesting. I was walking along a creek that runs behind my house and found a stone that is almost perfectly round and smooth along the edges. It looked to me to be some kind of tool that had been used years ago. While I was searching the web I ran across a site where this person had dug up a stone near his house that looked almost exactly like the one I have. His neighbor was having her field plowed nearby and found a small rock base that was used to grind things in it so it appears that he had one part and she the other that was used by the Natives from that area. I like to find things that were used by Native Americans years ago. Arrow heads seem to be plentyfull here where I live. There is a lake here called Tuckahoe Lake that was made about 12 or 13 years ago. When the Dam was built near it they found 2 or 3 old stone stoves that was believed to be hundreds of years old. So I believe that Native Americans used this spot on a regular basis. Have to go. Talk to you later.

March 9, 2005 at 12:24 pm #14020Vance, Have you heard about the Tuckahoe Indians that lived near Sleepy hollow and Terrytown New York? I don’t have a link about this but if you type in Tuckahoe Indians living near Sleepy Hollow and Terrytown in your search bar and push enter it well come up. I thought it was interesting to know that Tuckahoe Indians were living there at one time. Don’t know if they are the same Tuckahoe that we are looking for but who knows? Talk to you later.
March 9, 2005 at 12:24 pm #14356I love finding artifacts! I love that almost as much as going digging for crystals and other cool rocks. I’m a rock head at heart! I started my degree originally in geology, but when I found out I had to take exorbinant amounts of math I ran the other way!:p
Didn’t someone have a Tuckahoe and Cohee post somewhere on here? Was it Bill?
I’ve ran into those rolls in a couple of places, but I can’t think of em’ off the top of my head. When I dig those up I’ll let ya’ know.
