Brenda Collins Dillon spent many years researching the name. She passed on several years ago, but I’m keeping her site up here, off the main page at http://www.saponitown.com/brenda-collins-dillon/index.htm. I don’t think she was able to positively link her Collins to the one who was identified as Saponi. I don’t know that anyone has, not in the sense that I’ve seen (or remember seeing, their genealogies go straight back to the guy. There are lots of smoking guns, though. Lots of Collins living near where the guy was with stories of Indian ancestors.
This article of hers, One More Mountain to Cross, has been published on a few sites, and is here on ours: http://www.saponitown.com/brenda-collins-dillon/collins-story-part-1.htm
Scott Collins, http://sites.google.com/site/saponidescendantsassociation/contact-us, may be able to show you a definitive link back to him, or more folks with the same probabilities that you’re related to. If you can track down Rick Haithcock, he may be able to help you. Forest Hazel can be PM’d through this site and he may be of help. Maybe Graywolf, who you can also PM through here, may be able to help also.
There’s this thread from five years ago, http://www.saponitown.com/forum/showthread.php?1857-questions-on-souian-indians&highlight=saponi+collins+orange, and shows some of the uncertainty. To my knowledge the closest anyone can get to proving a connection to the Saponi Collins is a strong ‘probable.’ If there’s more than that, I’d love to know it.
Here’s another old thread that discusses all this:

AnonymousInactiveI found Jane Collins married Alexander Daniel ( there is a father and son with the name Alexander) They lived in York Co., VA 1600’s. Their lines descend and marry into Payne and Tarlton lnes.My NC relatives are descended from Josiah Daniel and David Parker. Josiah is on a list with an Alexander Daniel who also transferred a small piece of property to David’s brother Miles Parker for a church in Rowan.Alexander moved to Craven County, NC.I’m starting research for a friend’s mother whose maiden name is Wyles ( mother Lydia Suddath and grandmother Huldah Suddath.) They believe the grandmother was Cherokee. They’ve seen a photo of her. They lived around Ashville, NC .My friend’s mother was born in Newport News.
