You know there are many ways to deer hunt. Did you shoot them with your camera. Remember, a picture is worth a 1000 words. About 2 weeks ago I was going to work and came real close to haveing a collision with a couple of Does. That night after I came home my wife and I went to Wal-Mart, were else. When we came home, which was about mid-night, we watched 4 deer in the driveway. My wife said, see those does went and got some of their friends. This 4 didn’t stay around very long.
Nest time get your camera and take those pictures.

December 11, 2008 at 8:07 am #33165All my hides have been too frozen to work with so I have spent several of the coldest days hovering around a big black pot on an open fire boiling deer legs. (It’s too cold to work my regular job so I’m outside boiling feet… must be crazy 😉 I have processed 450 deer toes and 450 dew claws. I also intend to harvest canon bones, toe bones, needle bones, etc.
December 11, 2008 at 8:07 am #33167I remember “ONCE” I made the fatal mistake of boiling some deer feet in the kitchen because it was very cold outside. When my wife came home I was grounded for a very long time. She still brings it up every now and then. From then on I remind others to make sure they boil them outside.
What do you charge for your toes? I use deer toes instead of the jingle bells.

December 11, 2008 at 8:07 am #33177Ah, yes. An Elder had advised me that boiling feet was a project to be kept outside and downwind of the wife for continued marital bliss 😉
My funky tanning shoes and coveralls are not allowed in the house except to be washed.
You might be a “braintanner” if you confuse dogs. They see two-legged but smell four-legged.
I expect my prices will be 50% to 75% of Crazy Crow’s prices. Most of my stuff will probably be marketed by an elderly couple who vend on the VA/NC powwow circuit.
December 11, 2008 at 8:07 am #33178If you would, please, let me know when you’re done and ask them how much they want for some toes. I have some but I can always use some more.
I am a Straight Dancer and use them instead of bells. I would like to increase the toes I am now using. The set I’m using has a row of brass 38 cartridges and a row of silver 357 cartridges with 2 rows of toes. I would like to have several more rows of toes. The cartridges with the toes has a fairly good sound. They don’t keep making the jingle when I’m “supposed” to stop. Since I started using my deer toes, I’ve seen others using them more.
Thanks, Bob
December 11, 2008 at 8:07 am #33193Bob, I’m sure we can work something out.
I wear toes on my legs and arms. seven strands of four is what I currently wear on each leg and four strands of four on each arm. I guess that is 88 toes rattling, if my math is right. 😉
December 11, 2008 at 8:07 am #33199Thanks, Cuz. It sure is cold here and expecting some snow tonight. I have the fire going. Talk to you later.
