Hi,

I am learning, and I need to ask, are we all connected, or what is the difference between, The Tutelo, The Occaneechi Nation, Saponi of Ohio, and our Saponi town.

Are we all connected? I read what Linda put out, and she did a wonderful job, I am just confused.

And can someone please help me in the language area. From what Wikipedi said, our language, Tutelo-Saponi is extinct- like a dinosaur. But we have the language right here. And I know they are writing it out from the sound, because we had no writtien language.

Please dont think I am trying to be funny here, I am learning, and thats how we learn by asking our elders.

Thank you for your reply.

I just want to learn more. I want to identify myself with something, and my fathers family has always felt very strong about the Indian lines. In my family, my mother (maternal) came from the Amish, and their records are great coming from Switzerland. Her fathers side is Redmands from Virginia.

My father side was the Blackfoot from Ohio, another side with records from The Netherlands, and another from England. I guess this family line is important and I try to find as much as possible. Its sad that the records are just here,there and no where. I sit and ponder and think what their lifestyle was back then. How they were treated. Its sad-a lot of sad stories.

Sorry, I got lost there.

I have seen so many Saponi groups on the net and wondered if they were all the same. If so, why dont they just all come together and be one?
