Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
I just posted some long-awaited sound files of Tutelo, spoken by Spilledi, our resident language prodigy, who’s reconstructing Tutelo from what’s known of it, and splicing in what’s not from related languages.
Thanks Spilledi, you’re the bomb!
Thanks Linda. Don’t know if I can rightly say I’m reconstructing it, more like making my best educated guess. I’ll leave the proper linguistic work to the professionals. I’m just trying to get something that can be spoken. I figured since I can’t find any Tutelo lessons anywhere, I reckon I’ll just have to make my own.
I should add, theres other folks studying this language that interpret and pronounce it differently from me. So don’t assume that my postings here are the final word on it, I’m learning as I go. Its tons of fun!
Nice .. Thank you.
