Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
i am seeking the parents of edward page who was born 1776 possibly in amherst, virginia.a cousin of mine jerry snll has talked to one of my gggggrandfathers descendants here in missouri and she says edward,s mother was most definetly american indian.i believe the fact that i,m hitting brick walls is because there is american indian ancestry.my dad heard when he was growing up that there was american indian he said he heard it was cherokee.now i found my grandmothers father and his father on the dawes rolls, the surname “ward” they were choctaw.she was a ward before marrying my grandfather.i would like to talk to other page families who lived along the blueridge mountains in virginia, and their families predate 1776.my gggggrandfather lived at rockfish gap near afton, virginia in his later years.on the censis for 1850 it does not say what race he was.he died 20/march/1854.i believe he may be buried with his daughter elizabeth page balsley up at humpback rocks near the visitors center.i,ve too heard while growing up that there was american indian.please any help appreciated.thankyou ever so much.
