While struggling to get underwear onto our rambunctious 2-year-old son, my husband happened to catch a show on PBS. It’s called Indian Country Diaries. I’m catching the butt end of it–I plan to stay up and see if it airs again in the wee hours of the morning.

It is amazing because it deals with the issues some of us are struggling with. It is really, really good and my own family and I can ID with a lot of it–a lot of us will be able to. If they don’t have it own again later, I think I’ll purchase it (by raiding the coffee can).

LeAnne Howe was the writer of this documentary. She is going to give a film discussion on Wednesday November 29 at UNC-Chapel Hill in the Sonja Haynes Stone Center (Hitchcock room). It’s going to be from 6-8 pm. It would be great to have many people come out to this event. So, if you are interested please come. This is kind of short notice, I know, but this post reminded me. Metis and All,

My wife got me another PBS documentary DVD set called “The Indian Wars, 1540 – 1890” for Christmas. I haven’t got to watch it yet due to family in for the Holidays. I seems to be more focussed on the Plains Indians and may not have much on our ancestor though. I’ll give a better review after I’ve watched it. Here’s the PBS link in case anyone’s interested.
