Does anybody know into what time frame fall the first encounters of our people in the NC/VA border area and are there any incidents recorded?

Hi Rose,
Do you mean places such as the eastern parts of NC and Va, places such as what north carolinians call the beach (Manteo, Martin Co, Wilmington, Va Beach etc). I know my ancestors (Tuscarora were located in these area as early as the 1600’s so I have read…. they migrated up/down the Roanoke river to other areas of NC/VA. Also the Croaton were in this area in the early 1600’s. Try looking online for NC/Va indian tribes and see if you come up with anything and of course much of the info you need has more than likely been discussed on the forum.

thanks for your reply. Yes, anything that has gone on record as a raid or some village that got attacked and the (Cherokee) leader/chief/uku burned, for instance. Any place along the NC/VA border which of course is quite a long stretch, I’m aiming more at the western half of it, though. If there is anything on this forum, who would be the best person to ask about?
