Happy Dance, Happy Dance. Was so excited to find this forum!
Have been researching my gggrandparents: Adam Green b.1820 TN and wife Margaret(t) b.1828 AL.
Finding this forum with such knowledgable people was a true blessing for me. Have been unable to find any further back info on lineage of Adam Green and wife Margarett. I do think, from census info on 1860 Wood Co. TX Quitman P.O., that the mother of Adam, Gains W, Walter C, Martin J, and William J Green is Sarah E (perhaps Gains?) who was living in the household of Walter C Green with his 2 young sons Loranza (sp?) and James. She listed her age as 65 <1795> and birthplace as TN.
The children of Adam Green and Margarette on 1870 census Coryell Co. TX Gatesville P.O. (all b. TX) are:Martin D <1848>, Josephine <1851>, Martha Louisa <1852>, Sarah Elizabeth <1854>, Nancy L <1856>, Madison Gains <1858>, Mary Jane <1861>, William Joseph <1863>, Marion Eli <1865> (my ggrandfather),Lucinda <1869>.

Also 1900 IT Chickasaw Nation and in 1910 OK, Okmulgee Co. Henryetta Marion Eli Green<1863>TX, wife Sarah Malisa ‘Malie’ Minnick <1870> MO. These are their children (all b. IT/OK) Bessie M (Lowry) b.1888 IT, Mary b.1889 IT, Lula Francis (Blevins, Cannaday)b.1890 IT, Frankie L (female) b.1894 IT, Robert Cordwell ‘Bob’ (grandfather) b.1897 IT, Charles E b.1902 IT, Pearl Francis (Hinds, Garrison)b.1907 OK, Loren (male) b.1911 OK
Believe one of the Green brothers must have been living in MO in 1837 when Isaac N was born, and William was in AR 1881-1887, then KS by 1891, then IT by 1898.
Any connections, data, or info anyone might be able to provide greatly appreciated.

Wood County, Tx was created in late 1850 from part of Van Zandt County.
When the 1850 census was taken, Wood County didn’t exist, so they did not necessarily ‘move’ .
On the 1850 Van Zandt County, Tx Census, is one of those ‘miracles’ one only ‘hopes for’ …. but surname misspellings due to dialect/phonetics notwithstanding (& the “C” is for birth county), these appear to be the same people and then some when compared to the data you listed, and the census taker even listed the ‘Out of State” County they told him they were from….
If you recall looking at that 1860 Wood County census where the ‘n’ nearly always looked like an ‘r’ ?? AND, the cursive style is suspect, compared to that era.
Many, if not most of the early Texas census records, appear to have been copied in the era of the W.P.A. (Works Progress Administration) during the 1930’s and have to be ‘interrupted’ in the light of a ‘Copy’ . I think these are the people you have mentioned.

The “Alx Green” , 55, b. Tenn and presumed wife Martha V (VanSickle – but was apparently previously marr’d – Re: son Samuel VanSickle – you may have noticed on the 1860 Wood Co Tx census) were in 1850 ‘Nacoqdoches’ County Tx.
(Updated: Alexander “Greer” m’d MRS. Martha V. Vansickle on 4 April 1849 in Nacogdoches Co., Texas per that county’s Marr. Rec. Database. )
Alexander may be a clue as a younger brother of “G. W. Green” , who may be a ‘George Washington’ Green or a ‘Gaines W. Green’…. yet to be determined… I’ll take a look in Tenn and see if we can rout’em out.

Thank you Bill. Finding the counties these Greens were from will be a great help. Here’s hoping we can find more! Seems like genealogy is addictive. Once I find out something, I just keep wanting more.
I have serious doubt that your Marion Eli Green is the same as Adam Greer/Green’s son Marion whose middle name was Walter. Adam’s son William was named William Jasper. None of the wives or children match up to your Marion’s.
On further checking, I did find Adam’s line and it really is GREER, not Green. Green was apparently the misspelling. I’ll take another look at Marion Eli.
