I just wanted to tell everybody that I am so proud of my kids and I don’t know what I did to ever deserve them.
As everybody knowes I have been battling medical problems for many years and the last few months have been very rough. I won’t get in to all of it but know there are days when I almost give up. Anyway, my kids got together and raised enough money to fly my sister in here from Nebraska. I haven’t seen her in 21 years and I am soooo excited. I can no longer travel unless somebody goes with me. A flight would mean changing flights and I can’t walk anymore so they felt is was easier and cheaper to bring my sister out here to me. She called last night to say her husband said “Go for it”.
She will be arriving April 15 and stay two weeks. Hopefully our weather will improve and all THIS SNOW will be gone. TOM….you can turn off winter anytime. I have really had enough. We got 9 inches on Friday and we have a major storm comming in for Monday night. The forecaster said we have had almost 90 inches of snow this winter which is almost unheard of for the south shore of Massachusetts. They pray for those totals up in NH and Maine for the skiing. Poor Cape Cod has been buried since November.
Any old howes……I just wanted everybody to know how happy I am this morning and pray that all goes well.

February 27, 2005 at 3:12 pm #13872Brenda, that sounds like a wonderful gift! You DO have great kids.
February 27, 2005 at 3:12 pm #13883Brenda,
That IS a very long time to go without seeing your sister. I hope you have a wonderful visit with her.
My kids are great but I think still into mom and dad taking care of them..not what they can do for us exactly. You should be very very proud of them for doing that for you.
With the winter doldrums we need something special to look forward to..we have another storm tonight too.. a winter storm warning last time I looked…
My new puppy does’nt want to go outside..have to drag her out..Too cold.
She is a toy poodle from the ” second chance rescue” foundation…was a breeder dog living in a cage for several years. But doing really well now after a couple weeks..the first three days at our house she wouldn’t come out of a corner of the kitchen…didn’t know what a dog biscuit was…now she is really cuddly and beginning to play…these poor dogs just kept in cages..so sad.
i’m rambling! Enjoy your sister!! Sue J
February 27, 2005 at 3:12 pm #13890Thanks Sue, I will truely enjoy our time together. My folks left the mountains of West Virginia when I was 8 years old. Daddy could get no work and heard west was the place to go. So many West Virginians went to Washington and Oregon because it had mountains and felt so much like home. Daddy got a job on the railroad even tho he could not read nor write. He retired in 1978 with his gold watch and a party thrown by the RR workers. My sisters were just babes in arm when we went west so they had no memories. We just could never afford to travel back and forth but we keep in touch a couple times a week by telephone. ( not the same as sitting accross from the table )
I know what you mean by the little pup not wanting to go out. We are having the same problem with my Kato (Doxie) . I got him during the OJSimpson trial and thus his name Kato. He doesn’t like the cold either and to make matters worse he won’t go out for anybody but me…..
I also rescued a couple barn kittens when we first moved here. Samathia is the little one I bottle fed for 8 days before the eyes opened and helped to go to the bathroom cause mother usually takes care of that end. Today Sammy weighs about 10 pounds and is beautiful. Her sister Smokie Jo weighs 12 pounds and was born a Manx with no tail. (mother was Manx)
All this snow is Tom’s fault. He lives up there in Canada and blowes all the storms our way. I told him he could turn off the switch anytime…I am sick of snow. We got hit last night with 12 inches and more comming. Well I have to have somebody to blame….it didn’t seem fair to blame that darn ground hog all the time.

Your kids are truly sweethearts. That is really awsome. I’m very happy for you. After all these years you’ve got lots to catch up on.
Did you say you got 12 inches MORE snow last night? Man, we only got three. We haven’t been getting as much as we usually do this time of year. That makes it kind of scary. Hopefully we’ll get a couple deep wet ones that melt off really fast in the next month. Then all I want to see is rain, rain, rain.:) Don’t want no forest fires, or drought. It really ruins the summer business economy up here when it gets dry. So, I agree with you in telling tom to cut it with the snow, but he could do a little rain jig now and then.;) Love & Light and Have Fun With Your Sister. Lynella.

February 27, 2005 at 3:12 pm #13942Hey Brenda well your winter should be almost over the snow will leave soon and you and your sister will have a great time.
Luck is preperation meeting opportunity and you will really have a very good time, I swear winter will be gone soon.
Best Wishes to you and your family.
February 27, 2005 at 3:12 pm #13963I’m happy for you Brenda. I’m sure, when your kids were growing up, you were the kind of mom who did countless thoughtfull things. No surprise they’re returning the favor now.
I think we’re out of the winter season at this point. It will be in the 50’s all week. We had a few flurries of snow last week, but it was too warm for it to stick. Don’t mean to be bragging, just keep in mind, this is all of our home hereabouts. So if winter seems too long, just remember it’s in the blood to feel that way.
It’s like with the Tutelo Spirit Adoption ceremony. It goes on all night and is still timed to end with dawn — dawn, that is, in the Upper South, even though for the past 300 years it’s been done in Canada, where it’s still pitch black at that time in the wee hours.
