Fort Burnside VA Indian or Settler

Hey, all. Can anyone explain the term “Indian Fort” to me. When I researched Fort Burnside VA it was described as an Indian Fort but when I found it on another website it was called a “Settlers Fort”. As I have ancestors who lived there in the 1700’s I am very interested in WHO lived there – “Indians” or “Settlers”. Fort Burnside was in Greenbrier County VA at that time but is now in Pocahontas County WV. If anyone has any info on this fort or can explain the term to me I would greatly appreciate it. e-wi
