November 2, 2015 at 4:24 pm #37800Hi ranskey45. Welcome to SaponiTown!
Your history is similar to mine. Looking at the lines of John Milton Frantz I notice his direct maternal line is to Magdalena “Martha” Swartz 1801-1860. I also have Swartz on my Grandfather’s line.
This is Mary Ann Swartz from my tree b.1770 Somerset PA d.1859 Ligonier IN. She married into a Miller line that I have in common with Linda and others here. The lines they marry into are also in Northern KY.
I hadn’t seen the Gatewood name before. There is a tree on Ancestry with Adeline’s genealogy:
Adeline Jane Turner, daughter of Perry Turner and Mary Sweat. Going back her direct maternal line is to Lucinda McNeeley Goins 1790 SC -1860 married to William Sweat.
November 2, 2015 at 4:24 pm #37801After writing that last post I started looking at the Collins lines of my DNA cousins – totally unconnected to your Gatewood post.
Two of my DNA cousins descend from Tabitha Collins abt.1724 -1806 Spotsylvania VA – daughter of Johnathan Collins and Susannah Lewis that I have seen in other Saponi trees. This is from http://mycollinsgenresearch.tribalpages.com
Weird how you have never seen a name, then all of a sudden…

November 2, 2015 at 4:24 pm #37803Thank you marc i was so excited to read the info you provided. I had always wondered about our ndn blood and was so happy to find this group. I have one quick question. Im wanting to do dna and wondered which test you would recommend? Again thanks and know you made my day.
November 2, 2015 at 4:24 pm #37805We’ve done 23andMe and FTDNA. If you are looking for cousins with genealogy FTDNA is better. I haven’t done Ancestry DNA yet. Most important is whoever you test with to download the result and upload it to GedMatch. That’s where I’ve found the most connections. Scott Preston Collins has a Saponi DNA Project on FTDNA. As aCollins/Goins descendant your results would be relevant. Glad I could help!
