I would like to know what some of the names of the powwows that others have attended. I have met some cousins at different ones. So was thinking if posted names of some of the powwows we have attended then we might be able to meet more family. This is also a way to get to know each other and share our families history.

Personally,I’m somewhat of a newbie.Went to 3 powwows this year:
Monacan (May),Shenandoah Valley (June),and Hampton Intertribal (July).The
Monacan was my 1st ever powwow.

We have never attended that pow wow…it’s pretty big as I understand it. And I have no clue what I’ll be doing next April…shoot, I don’t have a clue what I’ll be doing next week…LOL. And Roca is right…check out the Events section to see who’s been to what….
I just attended my first Pow Wow in Oregon. Here, they are simply called the “Comfederated Tribes of the Siletz” and that’s the only Tribal name many know themselves as – some others are a bit luckier and can claim names like the Umpqua but they are still considered Confederated. I understand Washington State’s Native population has been much better organized for much longer and am hoping to stray that direction real soon.
This one was at Siletz 25 miles inland from Oregon’s central coast. It was a good bash and so nice to go to Pow Wow instead of “Rendevous”.
The last was on the Wind Rivers with the Shoshone.

You should get in touch with Spilleddi. She has lived on the west coast for a while and attends the pow wows there. She was here for the Cheroenhaka pow wow…and was entertaining us about catching shad and using them for fertilizer in her garden since they are so plentiful.
Thank you Mousini; Spilleddi and I have been in touch. I am west of the mountains on the coast (Oregon) and she is up somewhere east of the mountains – quite a separation for now but I am hoping to deepen our relationship along the way as she seems to have a great knowledge of subjects that interest me and seems interesting herself. I hope to learn much from her as the opportunity presents itself.
Thank you for your reference and interest. Perhaps next year, we’ll take over the Great Northwest!
