Thanks, Saj.
Did you see the photo album?
June 5, 2007 at 7:49 pm #27486Beeleaf,
I did see the photo album. Love these old pictures.
The first link I tried to paste didn’t work as it’s not complete.
That was something called Goochland co-B. The reason I came across it in the first place was trying to figure out who Mary White wife of Memucan Allen belongs to. In the 1810 census of Franklin co Ky there are White families going back to Stephen White married to Agatha Bramblett. Father William Bramlet or Bramblett. That’s how I got to this page that won’t copy. William Going, Anester Going and John Robinson witnessed a bill of sale for William Bramblett, Bedford co Va May 3 1759. But the witnessing of the will of Robert Allen really caught my eye. This will is from 1793. Sons of Robert Allen Sr, Joseph and Benjamin (twins) went with father to Goochland. Joseph, my direct line, had a son Robert. Have never found him. Now, also I already knew that Drury Allen and William bought land from Wm. Gowan in NC..this is the same group mentioned in Granville NC as having married into the Gowen, Going, Goin Etc. (no idea which way to spell) but the foundation records in the link above with an Allen researcher showed this. All is new to me! Saj
June 5, 2007 at 7:49 pm #27487Juat wanted to say hi to some Goins cousins. I am also a cousin of Jacks we descend from the Minors/Goins. I am also in FLorida Larry 🙂 Saj, I am pretty sure that the Minter is incorrect. At least as far as the marriage. Jack has been able to obtain copies of the will of Elizabeth Goins(Going) as well as some other documentation that does show either Minor or Miner. Tari
June 5, 2007 at 7:49 pm #27488Also, Saj what is even MORE interesting is that Zachariah Minor who maried Aggy Sizemore was listed in a will of a Marthia Williams I have been searching for the Williams/MINOR connection. Tari
June 5, 2007 at 7:49 pm #27491Well, here is an update on the question of Hezekiah minter/minor/miner.
If you scroll down to Hezekiah Miner…..I surely wasn’t the only one wondering. Who are the parents of Hezekiah Miner/Minor?

June 5, 2007 at 7:49 pm #27532I have not been able to find the parents as of yet, and Jack Goins my cousin who is the best researcher I know has not been able to either. Some have tried to link him to the Dudes Minert family, but that is also doubtful at this point. There were some prominant Minor families at the time but we cannot find the connection yet. The first mention of Hezikiah is on the marriage bond to Elizabeth. His son Zachariah is the one who told the census taker that he was “portuguese indian’ I am thinking that it could have been the portuckee who were absorbed by the Saponi. I f you tell the census man that you are purtuckee indian, what do you think he would write. Zach was also one that arrested for illegal voting as an FPC and his son Guilford my grgrgranpaw was listed as coloured on his marriage cert. The Minors have always been dark and showed their NA features down to the present generation. So I am thinking that we may not be able to go beyond Hezikiah for that reason. The other being the Minors, my granpaw included has tested E3a. So I am thinking it was a name picked up somewhere, and as you know my Sizemores have tested Q so there we have the mix!!!!! Tari
June 5, 2007 at 7:49 pm #27535Interesting, Y’all. I will try to keep a watchful eye for Hezekiah. The spelling in Patrick Co census, etc. is Minor (or even Miner), I believe. But I went to school with kids named Minter in Henry County.
Seems like “correct spelling” must have varied according to who was writing. In my family, the Boudin/Bolden/Bolding spelling still varies, as does Bolling/Bowling. Might not even be as neat as that.
