I have exhausted every avenue that I can think of trying to find information on Martha Gown/Gowen b.1799 in Patrick Co. Va. I know she was married to Thomas Pinion/Pennion b. abt 1781 surry co.NC. I found the info on the Pinion famiy but can’t seem to connect Martha to any of the Gown families. Can anyone help?
Thank you,
Debi

From NC Marriage Bonds database:
Thomas Pinion m’d Patsey Gown on 27 October 1822 in Surry Co., NC. Bondsman: Martin Lawson (age 26 to 44 on 1820 census – b.abt 1795 per 1850 Hawkins Tenn census. His wife was Nancy Owen, b.abt. 1800 NC. Martin looks like the son of Burrell Lawson, b. 1770, d. 1840, m’d abt. 1795 Stokes Co., NC, Ellender Banks, b. 1775)
“Patsey” was a common nickname for Martha.
The 1820 Surry census was recopied alphabetically so there’s no indication that Lawson lived near any Gown/Going, etc.
Martin Lawson was in 1830 Hawkins Co., Tenn (p.34)
On the 1820 Surry census, Capt Easley’s District, p.764, are two GOING households (No ‘Gown’ )
In the household of Anthony Going, age 26 to 44, were
3 males under 10.
4 females under 10.
1 female 10 to 16.
1 female 26 to 44.
In the household of Nancy Going, age 45 and over, were
2 males 10 to 16.
1 female 10 to 16.
1 female 16 to 25.
The odds are that they are related to the Stokes Co people.

Thank you so much for replying to my post. I will try to find, and follow, the Stokes Co. information to see what I find. With no actual names in the households it’s hard to pinpoint much…:) it does give me another direction though….. I’ll just keep “digging” . As always,Thank you again for your help.
