There is a book in the archive’s at Lewisburg titled “West

February 21, 2006 at 8:54 pm #19740Hi Waitman, thank you so much for all your research. This Abraham is no doubt a part of Gordon’s family but whether he is a brother or a first cousin I don’t know yet. He is only a few years older than Gordon. Some researchers give an Abraham Griffith born 1713 in Richland TWP, Bucks Co PA as Gordon’s grandfather but are not sure of Gordon’s father’s name.
This is a good find, Waitman, as it gives us good dates for one of the Abrahams who is tossed around in various relation to Gordon. I will try to locate the actual pension application for any additional clues.
Again I thank you for your time and effort and please let me know of anything else you find. e-wi
February 21, 2006 at 8:54 pm #19749you are welcome e-wi. We have some original pensions for men who lived in Grenbrier co and had fought in the Revolution. I’ll check tomorrow and see what I can find in those pension papers.

February 21, 2006 at 8:54 pm #19785e-wi, I found Abraham Griffith’s original pinsion application. He is the Abraham that I mentioned in my previous post. If you would like a copy and want me to mail it to you just let me know. I also found this. A Greenbrier co. land entry book. On page 35 it lists two Griffiths. Here is what it say about them.
We the Commissioners, etc., do certify that Thomas griffiths is entitled to 150 acres of land ( by right of settlement ) before the first day of january 1778 in Greenbrier co. on Greenbrier river below the mouth of Muddy creek where he now lives. Given under our hands this 22nd day of January 1780, etc.
We the Commissioners, etc., do certify that William griffiths is entitled to 150 acres of land by settlement before the first day of January 1778 lying in Greenbrier co. adjoining the land of john Keeney. Given under our hands this 19th day of january 1780, etc.
I hope this can help you. If I happen to be in Monroe co. in the near future I’ll stop by their courthouse and see what I can find for you.
