Peace to all
Can anybody confirm the parents of Sarah A. Guy, born 1862 in Macon, North Carolina. I beleive she was the daughter of Elizabeth “Catherine” Guy (b. 1832) who was the daughter of Jesse Guy and Elizabeth Merrit who was the son of William Guy and Abigail Chavis.
Bill, please take a look and tell me what you see also, because there is another Sarah Guy in Macon, and another Catherine, so I am trying to untangle them.

June 15, 2006 at 1:53 am #21808The other 2 Sarahs are older and not associated with any Catherine.
In 1860 Macon Co, there’s a Catharine Guy, 40, b.abt. 1820 “Burke” Co., assumed wife of Clark Guy, 46, b.abt.1814 Orange Co., who had no dau Sarah on the 1860 Census and they are not in Macon Co in 1870 as far as I can find.
There is a Sarah A. Guy, b.abt. 1852, Macon Co, dau of Willis Guy, b.abt. 1811 Orange Co., NC, and wife Mahalla, b.abt. 1820 Buncombe Co., NC. The counties of birth were listed on the 1860 census. In 1870, Willis and Mahalla are listed as b. Va.
There is also a Sarah A. Guy, b.abt.1859, Macon Co., dau of Daniel Guy, b.abt. 1837 Macon Co., NC and wife Mary A., b.abt. 1835 in Georgia. Their other children were Charles W., b.abt. 1855, Macon Co., NC; and George W., b.abt. 1857 Macon Co., NC.
The following census cover Catharine, b.abt. 1830/32, where the family is listed M in 1860 and B in 1870 and 1880. Many of these families were listed as white on the 1850 census.

I had the marriage, but needed to double check the family. R. D. Stewart married Sarah A. Guy in Macon, in 1882. Her father is Jesse. In 1850 I found her as Elizabeth C. (Catherine) age 18. Lavinia (Vina) is her sister.

June 15, 2006 at 1:53 am #35592Does anyone know who Abigail Chevers Chavis parents were? I am researching William Guy and Abigail Chavis Family line and would love to chat with others reseaching this line.
June 15, 2006 at 1:53 am #35725Hi annettetomb,
I am also researching the William Guy ~ Abigail Chavis Family. My 2GGrandUncle, William Jones, married their GGranddaughter, Mary Jane Guy, in Greene County, Ohio.
The only info I have on William and Abigail are a couple of census records and Williams’ Revolutionary War Packet. In it, it mentions a Charles and a Samuel Chavers, but doesn’t say if or how they are related to Abigail.
