Hey “Guys”,
I’m looking for any info that ties the Saponis of Macon, NC to the Catawbas of SC. I already have the US Senate Doc that lists Buckner Guy and his family as Catawba – but anything else would be a great help!

Is this Buckner F. Guy, b.abt. 1790 Mecklenburg Co., Va,
m’d Sylvia Jeffers, who lived in 1840 & 1850 Macon Co., NC?

This is the Buckner I’m referring to. His daughter that we know of as Annie Elizabeth aka “Annie Mae” was born ~ 1855 to obviously a second wife since Sylvia passed in 1850. From the Macon County Historical Society (Barbara), John Gibson (b 1853, 21 yo) married Elizabeth A Guy (24 yo), daughter of Buckner and Mary Guy on Oct 28, 1875 in Macon. Buckner and Mary witnessed the marriage. I also have my Elizabeth’s death certificate which states that Buckner is her father from SC when she died in 1929. This marriage to John was all news to us when I found it just a few years ago. We only knew of a marriage to William Blackmon Phillips who originated in Wayne County, NC. Don’t know when or how they met, or how the marriage to John was dissolved. Any of these facts would be of interest, but again my main goal is the connections to the Catawbas of Rock Hill, SC if there are any.

I am descended from Buckner’s daughter Juda/Judith/Judy Guy through her son George. Does anyone have any information on them?
