Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
OK, I shared with Barbara, Lynn, and a couple others that in my childhood in the late 1970’s I had an arranged visit with Granny (Bertha Lee Forbes/Poythress), I was about 10-12 years old and being that my mom was (is) devout Mormon I asked Granny for any information she had about the Poythress family tree. We were at the Poythress property in White City, Ore; with me was my own sister (Penny), our grandmother Eleanor (Eleanor Bernice Williams/Poythress), and “Sister” (Laura Lee Poythress/Goff, my great aunt). Granny was not very mobile at the time, but still mentally sharp – I was shown the Poythress family bible during that visit, as I recall Sister was entrusted with it. Granny promised me that she would take time and write down all the information she could find & remember, and weeks later I received a letter from her and after I copied this information down into my church records my mother added the letter in her ‘geneology pile’ and I mentally wrote it off as lost forever UNTIL TONIGHT, I received it in the mail from my mom and immediately scanned it to post here:
I don’t think this will fill in anyone’s family tree as the info shared here is already documented, but I thought I would share this for those who might be interested in having a part of something personal from Granny.

UGH…Steve…I can’t access it. Can you send me copies to my e-mail address?

Sorry gang, I had to move our web servers to another ISP this month; seeing how I cannot edit my original post here are new links to the scans:
