It’s store boughten carrot cake (because that’s what my grandson wanted for his 6th birthday, yesterday, and I get leftovers); and Breyer’s mint chocolate chip (also what he wanted). But I don’t live for sweets, anyhow. This is more sugar than I eat, most months.
And I made it to 70, woo hoo. My allotted time (Ps. 90) — from now on, it’s what the Germans called my Gnaden-Zeit (grace time), which is anything over 70. (I think Ed has been in his for several years, now.) Happy birthday, Ed.

July 31, 2009 at 1:06 pm #34033Happy birthday Pappy, My cake doesn’t come until around Monday or Tuesday when our oldest daughter and family arrive. I have been working on the makings of a Friendship cake which started July 1. I might cook my own before anyone cooks mine. My time of grace began at 37 yrs (major auto wreck) Today I have lived and WALKED for an additional 29 years so that makes 66. But thank you for your thoughts and would love to have some of that ice cream ! My wife will make the real cake first of the week complete with real butter cream iceing. By the way I guess my favorite cake would be Caramel but the sweet lady who used to deliver one to me every birthday has long been with the Lord. Pappy have you noticed the ladies on this forum never get older, their pictures remain young and quite lovely. I wonder what their secret is???????????????????????/ Ed

Funny, I thought you were older than I. Guess it’s just my youthful outlook.
I could use a photo of myself taken much earlier, but there’s that whole truth-in-advertising thing.

July 31, 2009 at 1:06 pm #34037Although I haven’t posted a picture, you and I have about the same hair style except for the beard. I also think probably get lots of hugs and cuddles from your grandkids for their Pa Pa. People used to laugh at how my girls said daddy which seemed to come out more like diddy and still does. That’s okay and special but the term PaPa seems to hold and even more special sound and especially when my oldest grandson is moved to terms of endearment and calls me “PaPi” you can tell the real love behind it. We are so blessed to be so loved and even when I know my patience and endurance is not as long and enduring as it used to be. I would like to know and find out why I can grow more hair on my ears now that I have so little on my head? Ed
