Come bound or on common ground, where do we stand, we say. Unseen faces and voices, we have heard. A time and place we’ve forgotten. Friendships already merged. Heaven speaks when no one is listening, the faces are barely there. We come bound on common ground. We stand there face to face. Faced with joy and fears we’ve forgotten. Faced with tears of the separation that must follow. Till we meet again we say. Until we meet again we prayed. Brown eyes, hazel eyes, we hope to see. Friendships renewed in a timeless eve. Not bound in honor or glory but by faith. Faith in meeting, hoping time isn’t fleeting, that we’d meet again we said. Bound by soul, not blood but, something holy. We’d search and time would be our glory. Two ties that are bound in heaven’s precious glory. Our love, would be my friend we said. Two hearts were divided we thank heaven that we’re alive, to embrace each other again. Time has no meaning or ending, we now know. It’s just never ending. For we were born bound on the same ground to love all over again.
*Hoped you liked it, wrote it years ago, just came across it, and thought that I’d share it.

January 29, 2005 at 8:57 am #13419Felicia,
🙂 I really like that a lot. It is beautiful. You almost have a John Trudell kind of touch there. I do REALLY like it. Love & Light, Lynella.
January 29, 2005 at 8:57 am #13480Thanks a lot my beautiful sisters, by the way who is John Trudell?
January 29, 2005 at 8:57 am #13487Felicia,
😀 I plead the 5TH! Look him up on the internet! I’ll just say he was a bit of a trouble maker to some, but to others, like me, a bit of a hero! At any rate, I love his “spoken word” poetry.;) Love & Light, Lynella.

I feel the same way about John Trudell. It is interesting to me that his father was Santee Dakota- the closest Siouan speaking neighbors to our Eastern Siouan group of SaponiTown folks.
A good friend of mine, who is a musician, asked him if she could honor the memory of his unborn son by using his name for her band. He agreed.
Another interesting tidbit about John is that he was in a relationship with Marcheline Bertrand (Angelina Jolie’s mother) towards the end of her life. Marcheline and Angelina are descendants of Annenontak Arendanki. She was an early Wyandot (Wendat) transplant to Quebec City circa 1600s. My wife and daughters are also descendants of hers.
Felicia’s poem does have a Trudell-like feel. Very good.
January 29, 2005 at 8:57 am #37508Thanks Marc and everyone for the kind words.
I write a lot maybe I should post them here. Thoughts about that anyone?
January 29, 2005 at 8:57 am #37510I for one would like to read more.
January 29, 2005 at 8:57 am #37512Felicia, It’s so good to see you still around. Becky and I were sorta hoping we would see you at the Chase City powwow several weeks ago. It’s been too long since we’ve seen you.
January 29, 2005 at 8:57 am #37513Yes my sister. Good to see you here. It’s hard to believe it’s been ten years since you posted that poem.
