The History of the New River Catawba traces the present-day band all the way back to its beginnings in the Ohio Valley, through the time of the Spanish Conquistadors, Fort Christanna, diasporas and finally to their home along the New River, where they have remained for many generations, practicing their own culture.
Has some good information about the 1763 Proclomation Line, the division created among the Catawba by the Revolutionary War and family pictures. Cites Carlson, Richard Haithcock, Vance Hawkins, Steven Pony Hill, Douglas Summers Brown, Maud Clement Carter, and others.
