This has had my curiosity before. See the Holt family…

Mary Holt was born 1698 at Capt. Alexander Walker’s. Alexander Walker had a William married to Elizabeth Warren and also an Alexander brother to William. Capt. Alexander died long before Mary Holt would have been born but Alexander Jr. died not until about 1700. Then Mary is in the St. Peter’s church records as a mulatto belonging to Mr. Allin (Allen). He is taking care of her then in 1713 (she would be about 15 yrs. old) and again in 1717 and again. And she dies Dec. 24 1718. BEfore she dies she has at least one child Ann. Born c1716. But Ann is a “free mulatto”. Ann then has an Ann and a George who born about 1737, is on the Pamunkey reservation in 1787 taxable. George has a son Richard married to Molly one of the last Pamunkey Indians to speak the language? I will probably never know but I wonder about the connections of these people. The Mr Allin is Richard who died in 1725, the father of Robert, the father of the Drury b1714, William b1709 and Joseph and Benjamin (twins) born 1711 among others. Hmmm, I wonder. Saj
