Hey Guys, The Texas Collins reunion will be held on May 7th in Ft.Worth, TX out at Forrest Park. It will be an official start to Saponi Descendants Association, not to be confused with Eastern Siouan Descendants Association, as well as our first sponsored event for a our relatations here in Texas. I spent the better part of the last 6 months organizing this event and have come down to the wire. I want to be able to give everyone attending an update on how the research is going. I was wondering if I could e-mail some of you the speech and possibly get some feed back on it?
I am wanting to see if it sounds coherent and not jumbled.
Also for those who may not know SDA is a non-profit organization for Saponi and other Southeastern Siouan Descendants mainly residing in the Texas area. Some of our goals will be to offer grants to other Southeastern Siouan organizations for research, education, etc. We hope to be able to help in any way we can with ESDA and the networking of all other Eastern Siouan related organizations, events, etc. Saponi Descendants Association does have a website at MyFamily.com. We have a streaming message that directs our relatives to Saponitown.com and links to Linda Carter’s wonderful articles on Southeastern Siouan history. Our board members hope that we may be able to provide assistance to the entire Eastern Siouan community where ever they reside.
Techteach I would like to get with you and a few of the others that are working on articles of incorporation and share what we have so far. I would like to reflect as much as possible the values and ideas that ESDA will have. May unity of purpose bring us all together.
If you’d like I can have a look at your speech, not sure if I can offer anything to add though.

Wow! Trouble is, I don’t have them. Nor, to be honest, do I have time to work on them at the moment. It is the end of the school year. Heavy stress. After that, I have a week-long inservice and then a paper to write for a conference at the beginning of July. Not sure who has the papers. Lynella worked on them. Maybe they can be brought to the get-together. Are you coming?

I have the paperwork. If I haven’t been able to finish it up before the gathering, I will bring it with.
Oh how I wish I could make it to that gathering. That would be so cool to finally meet you guys face to face. I do plan on getting to the gathering in the future though and hopefully I’ll bring some family from here with me.
OK. I will bring my laptops (I always carry them anyway. There is a reason I sign myself Techteach.)

Techteach I was wondering, since you will have a laptop do you think it possible to join you guys via the net during the gathering?
Collins, I am not sure of the likelihood of the lodge having wireless or any kind of connection. I do have a Treo phone that has Internet connection whereever I am. I have used it for email or something at meetings. It just is slow and confusing with its small screen, but I have looked at Saponitown using it, so it is useable, without an Internet connection.
