What’s the distinction between the Saponi and the Eastern Blackfoot?

To me Saponi is a Nation of which there are several tribes and core families. Blackfoot is the ID given in many people’s family history here at SaponiTown. People identifying as Saponi/Blackfoot could also be members of other Siouan-speaking tribes Tutelo, Catawba etc. Historically perhaps the Blackfoot ID also came to include remnants of other tribes that joined them, like Nanticoke, Shawnee, etc. But I think different people would have different answers.
So Eastern Blackfoot are a part of the Saponi Nation? They are part of a larger whole {the Saponi Nation is made up of many tribes}.
Battyboy,
I am waiting on Mom’s relative results too. DNA.Land was not prepared for the huge response and are backed up, so I am not sure how long it will take. I got my relative list fast, but I was one of the first to sign up. You only get 20 but when they get up to speed, they plan to have longer lists.
They have big plans for this. It is to be a possible databank for researchers who are looking at genetic conditions like I have, Dupuytren’s Contracture. I think at some point you will be able to find out the genetic risk you have for certain conditions.
I only recognize a couple of the names of my matches, but they indicate that they are testing many more genes than the commercial companies. They say it is almost the equivalent of a full genome study. Not sure how they do it.
