Looking for information about General New River ( William Scott) Sally Scott General Jacob Scott family.. originally Saponi. Chief of the Catawba at one time. So was General Jacob Scott.

Have you tried searching the forums for info on General New River / William Scott?
He was said to be the son-in-law of King Haigler and chief from 1780-1801.
The first list of Scott names identified as Saponi I’ve seen is Halifax County NC Tax List 1786-1790. Names include
Isam Scott
Nancy Scott
Abraham Scott
Exum Scott
Isom Scott
Randolph Scott
Emanuel Scott
James Scott

Sorry I wrote on your board. James Scott is my grandfather. Born in Halifax North Carolina 1753. He received 24 Acres of General Thomas Sumter’s land in present-day Sumter South Carolina. He fought with General New River General Jacob Scott John Scott Billey Scott. All these men fought with General Thomas Sumter and part of the North Carolina Continental line as Catawba Rovers. I have James Scott service records and land deed from Thomas Sumter. His daughter Jane Scott married Aaron Oxendine my grandfather. Son of Old Cheraw Charles D Oxendine.

It’s hard to find information but I found his name being William Scott..
All records refer to him as General New River.
But in a couple of places I have found the name William Scott attached.
I can’t believe I found somebody else that is a part of my Scott family. Are you with the Saponi?
I just wanted to add I found the Scotts in New York in 1743 with the Saponi Tutelo Catawba. And my James Scott was born in Halifax North Carolina with the Saponi.
