Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
My GGG-Grandfather’s name is George W. Neel, I have not been able to confirm his parents, for years. I have been in contact with distant “cousins” who tell the same indian heritage story. Which that in it self is nice, to never have met or associated, and have the same story, but by itself not enough. If we have indian hertitage it MUST come from George’s parents. I believe whatever heritage we have had to be married in or Out-of -wed-lock birth? I am VERY aware of all my other Neel/Neal relatives & connections, and George is our mystery. I did come in contact with a “cousin” and she told a story of “Blackfoot” heritage, Her story differs in the Indian association, we (other lines and myself) were told we were Cherokee, I firmly believe we are not. So my quest is to find out who George’s parents were. Here is some info:
George W. Neel (1854-1930?) m.Rosie Belle Deavers
Mercer Co. W. Va, Burkes Garden V., Bluefield W.Va.
George is related somehow to Thomas Neel & Eleanor McFarland, He is living in the household of Zack Neel,(son of Thomas & Eleanor) and other Neel family members in 1860.
any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
