Hello everyone,
I am so glad I found this forum. I am searching for more information on my grandfather’s family. He told the story I read in many of your messages… his grandmother was “full-blooded native american, Blackfoot”. It didn’t make sense to me – since grandpa lived in west Tennessee, and his family came from North Carolina. Now – some of the pieces begin to fit.
I am searching for Rachel Davis Dowdy, born 1846 in North Carolina. Her parents were Sterling Davis and “Hattie/Hatie” Hastings. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Try posting your info to the genealogy section. Maybe you will find cousins. There are certainly others with your story. I am one. And I know that the Davis surname has been on here before. Try a search too.
