Hi im a new memeber and my research has led me to my GT GT GT GT grand father his name was John collins he had a a daughter named rebecca collins in virgina in abt 1741. she married steven carpenter of virgina in 1764. they got married in TN and they had Feilding Carpenter in surry county north carolina april 25, 1853.Well any ways I found a court document in virgina where John was tried in orange co, Virgina with other soponie indians for butchering a farmers hog and they were ran out of town for it. the document comes right out and says they were soponie indians but I have yet to prove it. I was wandering if any one has any info on the carpenters or collins to help me.

Why not post your information in the genealogy section. Bill might be able to help you out. I have Carpenters who have been briefly discussed here but they do not connect with folks on this forum except through the Swearingens, at least as far as discussion here has been. They were around Wheeling, WV.
I do have a Horner also who comes out of Princess Anne, MD. She marries into my Potter line and is my direct ancestor.

There are plenty of Collins cousins here, that’s for sure, and 99.9% are willing to help a fellow cousin out. 😀
Does the VA document name any of the other “soponie indians” in Orange County, VA?
