Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
I am new to this site, and fairly new to genealogy research in general, so please forgive any failure to observe protocol or any idiocies.
I am trying to make sense of the Collins! No easy task! All those Ishams, Armintas, Edwards, etc. Mary, b. 1850, daughter of Isham and Sarah is my ggrandmother.
Some questions: Does anyone know ancestors of this Isham (the one who is in McDowell Co WV in 1960 and went to Meeker Co MN?) I believe he was born c1824. Does anyone know where?
I have seen that it is believed his wife Sarah’s name was Roberts. What is the basis for this theory?
Also, why is it thought that Isham had children with a Dicey Roberts?
For what it may be worth, Mary’s death certificate lists her mother’s name as Klein. (This info came from her eldest son at her death in 1940.) Since there are so many Clines in McDowell Co VA, I thought that maybe this info might be correct, just misspelled.
I would greatly appreciate any insights/corrections/info anyone may have.
Thanks, Margaret
Welcome, Margaret,
Did you mean to say that Isham was in McDowell Co., WV in 1860, or 1960? Was he born in 1824, or in 1924? Sorry for the confusion but please clarify.
Please post your inquiry in the “Share Genealogy Research” section and we’ll take a look at it.
Bill
p.s.
Klein and Cline are often interchangable.

Bill, He was born c 1824 and was in McDowell in 1860. How do I get to the “share genealogy research” section? Sorry for my ignorance…
Bill, Think I have it figured out.
