Once you watch that video….you’ll understand the beading etc….but now if you want something with a odd county (has like 3 lines across, 5 lines across etc etc) then you will need to anchor every line (which takes alot of time when doing a full bead work lol)……so you’ll have to go to this website and learn how to anchor.

ok now that you have a basic understanding….you will now need to make a design…which means you are going to have to print out a blank peyote stitch sheet.

once you have your design done you are going to have to probally follow along on the video or first link I added in this post about odd county.

Now finding a good source for beads sucks….you can go to crazy crow and get all the beading stuff you need….or you can head up to wal mart….wal mart had a sucky selection of colors and sizes. each pack of beads costs 1.50 at walmart. what you want to get is “Glass e bead” it will be in the crafts section where they have the colored feathers and stuff of that nature. I would suggest you get 2 of the main color your going to be using for a background color. if you see the “glass e beads” with multi colors then I suggest you get 3 packs of the same multi color packs ( I would suggest not using the multi color packs for background color since background color will take nearly a full pack). You may find some beads that are in a color you want to use….but try to only get the ones labeled “glass E beads” because you can not mix the E beads with the smaller ones or the pony beads.

For thread I get “bead thread” which is found in the same aisle and costs about 1.95…..it’s pretty strong stuff although keeping it tied is kinda hard. Do not get the stretchy rubber bead thread since it only goes thru the beads one time which means we can not use it.

I’d say get some super glue….use the super glue add just one drop to each knot (you’ll keep running out of thread and have to tie two threads together to keep threading and since this thread does not stay tied very good then you’ll need to tie it about 5 times and then add one drop of the glue to make sure it stays tied). I’ve been using this clear nail polish stuff which works just as good).

You may want to get one pack of really small beads….you’ll probally only need to use one really small bead which you’ll see why in the above posted video for the even count peyote stitch. You can always take the really small beads back to walmart and get your money back later.

🙂 I don’t think I will have the time to bead anytime soon, with my three little ones running around, but I would love to give it a try someday. Thanks for sharing all of the links. I am a jewelry junkie, and owuld love to make some of my own someday.

well you can do like I did with mine…I just did alittle bit every day.

I should also add that I would suggest getting a ink pen also….after beading each line you should put a line across the line you just beaded (on the graph paper not the beads themself)…other wise you will defiently lose which line your working on lol

hehehe the one I did I made a arrow head design and a pottery design since the catawba are known for pottery and pottery was also found at the Saponi sites…..along with arrow heads……then I did a turtle for the center to represent turtle island.
