I am new. My husband is Cherokee / Blackfoot. We are trying to find out his linkage/heritage and want to learn about his tribes/people and culture.
My husband: Daniel Raymond Carter
Father: Edgar Isaac Carter
Grandfather: Lee Carter
Grandmother: Eva Carter
This is all we know.
Mother: Pauline Foster
Grandmother: Ruth Janette Smith (Foster)
Great grandmother: Lida Smith
Grandfather: Frank Smith
Smith is where the blackfoot
Carter is where the Cherokee
If anyone can help, would be greatful.
Dan know’s he has a relative, not know what relation, on the Carter side – Linda Carter
He has brother: Mark W. Carter; Eddie I. Carter, Joseph Carter (deceased) and sister Janet Carter
His mom, Pauline Foster has a sister Effy and another sister Unis or Unice.
Welcome Nadine. Have you tried tracing the Foster/Smith line back with Ancestry.com or Genealogy.com? Where were Pauline and Ruth born/died (if decease)? Do you have dates of birth?
Pauline is still alive which is whom I received most of my information. I have done searches on both, but some of the stuff, not even sure is anything, they want a membership fee. I’ve done that twice two other places and ended up there was nothing.
I recently saw an interesting note on a website that said that there were originally,basically, two geographical groupings of Fosters.
One was in the Tar River , NC area and the other was in an area called ‘ Nutbush’.
I know my Uriah C. Parker ancestor( grandson of Edward Parker through father, Daniel P. ) settled in the Nutbush area.
