Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
To Bill Childs –
Bill, you said to start another thread for this because you have some information about these relatives.
My paternal great grandmother was Martha Minerva LOGGINS b. 22 Apr 1872 in Habersham Co, GA d. 22 Apr 1920 in Habersham Co, GA (Yes, she died on her birthday). Martha Minerva was known as “Mattie”. Her parents were Thomas A. LOGGINS b. 11 Jul 1828 d. 04 Jan 1913 in Habersham Co, GA. Thomas’ 1st wife was Martha M. MEEKS b. 14 May 1830 d. (presumably in childbirth) 22 Apr 1872. Thomas’ 2nd wife was Matilda Ann TROTTER b. Oct 1836 in GA. Thomas & Matilda were married 23 Mar 1873 in Habersham Co, Ga.
My great great grandfathers Silas CORN and Thomas LOGGINS supposedly built the Fairfield Baptist Church about 5 miles west of Clarkesville, GA sometime around 1875. Almost all the people mentioned here are buried in that church cemetery. Martha Minerva LOGGINS married Silas’ son John in 1896. John CORN was a circuit-riding preacher all his life.
Any information you can provide about the LOGGINS family would be greatly appreciated.
