Found this forum today researching my Blevins line and really caught my attention. Tried to join and found out I was already a member! Joined while I was still working and very sick. Not working now and much better. When I saw Brenda’s name, I knew I needed to read the entire site as I run into her over and over again. My Rachel Blevins married James Cotrell in Miami Co Ohio but my Cottrell roots DNA is showing up in West Virginia but then I also have Westfall, Truby and Reeves from that area. But this seems like it will be good place for exploring those Indian roots that have been denied for so many years. My ggggrandfather Nathan Blevins was born “on the Haw River” and his father was to lay out the road to “Saponi town”. About 75%of my mother’s family comes out of this area, she was red haired, green eyed and still called a little half breed in Ohio in the 1900’s, but the families have passed for so long it will be hard to find proof.
Good to see you made it back. Seems I see the Blevins name a lot in the various locations I search… it would be interesting to hear more about your Blevins.
My great uncle Oliver Steele from Mingo County WV married a Ruby Blevins…. coal black hair and eyes.
