Hey there
Have you found any other Minchews mentioned any where…well, there was Richard, which we think was a brother or uncle. The Register of Deeds is a distant cousin and she stated one day while I was up there….”Well, you know Susannah was Indian, didn’t you?”. Well, I had suspected, but, didn’t know for sure. Apparently, there are other Native Americans buried in the same cemetery with her and James Towler.
I, too, am finding many marriages and connections…with the Hills and the Allens and the Norris’s…all are already family and friends. Makes for some interesting conversations. I was telling my SIL last night about the Browns and Norris family…really want to make connections for him after I read on their family some more in the Heritage books that we have. Any information that you have will be greatly appreciated.
February 10, 2006 at 3:20 pm #25392Sorry about digging this up from the depths of the archives, but it’s the reason I came here in the first place…:D
I’m Felton Hosea Allen Jr., son of Felton Hosea Allen Sr. and (third wife) Pella Wade Allen…Not to be confused with Gparents Hosea Allen and Pella Blalock.
After 31 years and the death of a family member, I was finally told that I had Indian ancestors. So now it’s my job to put the puzzle pieces together for the family.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Hopefully we’ll all walk away with some new info..:)
February 10, 2006 at 3:20 pm #25393Welcome Titaniumgorilla!
Have you searched with the search feature for info much on here? Lots of good stuff. Do you know Ken and Becky? (Dreaminghawk and Mousini)
We must all be related. Saj
February 10, 2006 at 3:20 pm #25394Thanks Sue, I’m in the process of searching now. I see tons of familiar names here, so I think I’m going to have some fun sorting it all out…lol.
I read in another post that Ken and Becky were at Mount Tirzah for the Trading Path Association’s hike this month. I was there also, but I did’nt introduce myself to many people. I’ll definately ask around next time though.
February 10, 2006 at 3:20 pm #25411Well hey cousin,
I was the old fellow in the silver ranger who spoke with Tom just before the hike started. I gave him some new leads on paths and fords and some historical society newsletters. I left before y’all left the storeyard. Becky and I are Flat River Gravefinders, and much as I would have loved to take the hike, we had business of our own to attend to. (We had walked the area previously with Tom and I grew up within spitting distance of there). Did you make it to the Bartlett Yancey Allen dedication the previous saturday? We coordinated that event too. Good to see you at Saponitown. Here is where you will find your answers. Also look forward to meeting you in person.
February 10, 2006 at 3:20 pm #25425So that was you! I remember now. I also remember reading about you and Becky in the news. It’s great what you guys are doing, and if there’s anything that I can do to help, feel free to let me know…I’m a pretty decent volunteer…lol.
I didn’t hear about the dedication in time, but I would have killed to have been there. I’ll be sure to keep my eyes and ears open in case something else pops up.
