Mordecai Sutherland had a wife named Susannah, lived in Burke County NC in about 1760. I think he was and Indian trader and had a patent on animal identification. He was born in Virginia, lived in Burke County NC, and in 1790, moved to Orange County NC.

I think Susannah was a Native American and very young when she took up with Mordecai. He said she was his wife and did mark property deeds. They had 8 children that I can identify.

How can I go about finding Susannah’s tribe and about her parents? This is my first time trying to identify our ancestor.
