Hi all,
I have seen quite a few of my surnames posted lately, so I thought I would post my list of them. Here are my direct lines that I know of…
Mom’s side:
Jones (VA –> OH –> IN), Rosser (VA –> OH), Holderman (PA –> OH), Fink (MD –> OH), Kohler/Caylor (VA –> OH), Kinsey (PA –> OH), Wampler (PA –> OH)
My Jones line is the only one of my lines rumored to be of Native descent. As far back as I have found them (1810’s), they were in Virginia. They had 11 children, who married: Cordel, Day (descendant of Jeffries), Guy (descendant of Jeffries), Aldridge, Holderman, Dearth, Robinson, Hankinson, Simpson, Ford, Parker, and Beaty. All of these marriages took place in or around Greene County, Ohio.
Warner (PA –> OH –> IN), Sharretts (PA –> OH), Kepler (PA –> OH)
Fisher (GER –> PA –> IN), Irvington (Germany), Berriner (MD –> PA –> IN), Wimmer/Weimer (NJ –> PA –> IN), LaBoyteaux (NJ –> OH –> IN), Sebring (NJ –> OH), Mullen (OH –> IN), Small (OH –> IN)
Davis (PA? –> OH –> IN), Rogers (NC –> IN), Peacock (NC –> IN), Barnett (OH), Stone (VA –> IN), Wilfong (VA –> IN), Smith (VA?), Cook (VA –> IN), Neff (NY –> IN), Simmons (VA –> IN)
What my Grandma told me in the 2nd grade for a school project:
*Great Great Grandpa Jones – Miami Indian
*Great Great Grandma Jones [maiden name Holderman] – German
*Great Great Grandpa Warner – German
*Great Great Grandma [maiden name Sharretts] – Penn Dutch
*Great Grandpa Fisher – German
*Great Grandma Fisher [maiden name Davis] – Scottish-Irish
Dad’s side:
Maddox (MD? –> KY –> IN), Smith (KY), Greer (OH –> IN), Brown (OH –> IN), Burkhamer (PA –> OH)
Milligan/Milliken (IRE –> PA –> NC –> IN), Buzzard (KY –> IN), Jenkins (KY –> IN), Richards (NC –> IN), Rush (NC –> IN), Stukey/Stookey (SWITZ –> PA –> OH –> IN), Applegate (OH), Francisco (OH), Eckert
Shrock/Schrock (PA –> OH –> IN), Hochstetler/Hostetler (PA –> OH –> IN), Troyer (PA –> OH –> IN), Zug (PA –> OH –> IN), Miller (PA –> OH –> IN), Yoder (PA), Mast (PA), Berkley (PA –> MD), Lehman (PA –> MD), Turner (NC/SC –> TN –> IN), Cates/Katz (VA –> IN), Tharpe (VA –> IN), Summers (VA –> OH –> IN), Daugherty (PA or VA –> OH –> IN), Williams (NY –> PA –> IN)
Loman (OH –> IN), Cook (OH –> IN), Hendrick(s) (IN), Perham (VT –> IN), York (NC –> OH –> MO –> IN), Hammer (PA –> NC –> TN –> IN), Rains (NC –> TN), Meeting (PA –> NC)
The majority of my surnames on my dad’s side are Quakers; although, nothing was ever mentioned about my Maddox line other than they were from Kentucky (Oldham County).

I have Miller in one of my lines. They were from Germany originally. Then moved to Faulkners Swamp,Penn. Jacob Mueller was my ancestor that came from Germany and his name changed when he came over here to Miller.
March 18, 2006 at 3:11 am #19832Hi Waitman,
My Millers were in neighboring Berks Co. in the 1750’s and 1760’s timeframe. Some time before the 1790’s, they went to Somerset Co., PA and then on to Holmes County, Ohio.

March 18, 2006 at 3:11 am #21357Your Kinsey name caught my eye. I wonder if it’s a variant of Keasey, which I have. Also, I had people in Berks Co. at the same time as yours, Ulms, who married SMITHS I believe while in Ohio. I haven’t uncovered my family tree books yet so I can’t confirm at the moment. (It’s only been a year and a half since I moved.) Some of these Smiths were in Sullivan, Indiana, a county over from the Blackfoot Church we’ve discussed here.
