Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
Hello Everyone. I was wondering how do the NA migration patterns compare to the General Population migration patterns?
For instance my NA’s migrated from N.C. >Tennessee> Wisconsin> Iowa >Nebraska and then to all points from there including Canada.
So I keep reading about the NA migrations from the South to points North etc.
Does anyone know if these are NA specific or if they are the same as general population migration as territories and frontiers opened up?
I’m just curious if the migration patterns really do figure into whether a family may or may not be NA?
Anyone know?
Thanks
The kind of people who might know work in the fields of cultural geography, population geography, maybe demographics. You might look at the lifetime bibliography of Wilbur Zelinsky (Google his name plus “atlas,” or something).
There are probably genuine experts on this topic in the Bureau of the Census (I think that’s Commerce Dept.), whom nobody much calls, and who would like for some taxpayer to call upon their expertise. I’m just guessing.
Thanks Pappy..
