don’t know if this qualifies as lore, but my mother said her grandmother would gather things and make a horrible drink flavored with sassafrass and make her and her siblings drink it to get rid of worms,etc. that the kids may have picked up. it worked! but my mom never could stand sassafrass after that! 😉
