I have read of this colony called “De Graffenreid” , aswell there are several early sketches(?) I believe of the Tuscarora at this colony, this link provides some information on what and who these early German ancestors were in NC.

I put them up for a friend whose pictures and commentary they are. There is a vase that was dug up in Snow Hill that was found on a ship’s records coming from Europe. De Graffenreid was the governor and very much involved in this war. He came close to being executed the same day John Lawson was. They were prisoners together. I researched this pretty heavily before the trail led me to the Saponi.
