I hope someone can help me find the orgin of my pappaws Native American roots. I have a family member that hired someone to research for her and they said they traced him to the “Black” indians. She won’t give anyone the information because she “paid for the research” go figure. Anyway, his name was William Thurston Whitehead. Surnames on his mothers side are Maxwell, Tucker, Harris, Keith, Casada. Unfortunitly I don’t have any names but Whitehead from his fathers side. I do recall him saying his mother was “Indian”. My mammaw even would say he was “colored”. You only had to take one look at him and know he wasn’t white. He had staight black hair, dark skin, slim build and no body hair. His eyes though were a beautiful blue. He didn’t know what tribe he was. He grew up in the Southeastern part of Kentucky. The Casada’s and Keith’s come from Virgina. I so want to find out something about his roots. I have a pictures of him and see that beautiful man in my son and so want to make that connection to the past. Thank you for your time.

January 26, 2007 at 11:06 pm #24990My great grandmother’s name was Deliliah (Dillie) Tucker. The line back to her that I “think” the Indian may come from is as follows. James Keith, his son William Keith b.1761 in Va., married to unknown Allen. William’s son was John Keith b. 1788 in Va. married to Polly Allen then Deliliah Kennedy (Casada) b.1799 in Va., daughter of John Kennedy Sr. John Keith and Deliliah’s daughter Isabelle b.1825 in Ky married William (Billy) Tucker. Then we have George W. Tucker married to Nann Harris. Then William C. Tucker married to Anna Maxwell. Which is Dillie Tucker’s parents. I hope you can give a little insight to this family. Thanks:)

The Ping and Bullock people both have men with middle names of Bowling/Bolen/Bolling, which may or may not raise an eyebrow.
