Hi, am new to the group – this is my first time on the forum. My name is Cindy. I grew up in Lenoir, NC and moved to Colorado in 1990. I am descended from the Harris and Chavis families of Wilkes County, NC. The farthest back that I have them is in Dinwiddie County, VA, then to Randolph County, NC. I’m excited to be part of the this group.
Welcome Cindy. I lived in Greene County, NC, for twelve years. When you lived there, did you ever visit the Fort Neorhoka site? Every time you go to Greenville via Snow Hill, you pass over Fort Run.
I have Harrises, too, though all I know is that they originated in Virginia. I take it you suspect they have Native ties. What are your clues?
