Hello all *smile* I have been relatively absent here at Saponitown for many months but have nonetheless been watchful and still working on my maternal lines and more….which brings me to my new post here. I have been attempting to research yet another Nichols/Thompson connection in a collateral line. To wit: I have located a Zachariah Nichols, called a Dr. (sources?) who was born 1797 NC, d: 1880 place UNK who MD a Mary Ann Thompson b: 1795 NC, d: UNK….they had a daughter Gillatha C. Nichols b: 1814 NC, d: 1894 OK who MD Moses King Holland b: 1814 Anderson Co, SC, d: 1885 AR….that couple in turn had a son Zachariah Morgan Holland who MD Elizabeth Brock…and I am trying to determine which one of their daughters (amongst then Rebecca Emma, Celia/Sealy Ann, Mary E. & Martha (Ward, adopted?) Holland) MD an UNK Rowans man and had daughter Martha Rowans b: 1870 TX. For whatever reason, there are trees online for this Thompson/Nichols family but the information on them is exceedingly small….since this Holland/Rowans line connects to my maternal Nichols/Thompson line down the tree it is my belief that they likely also connect UP the tree to the aforementioned couple…..and furthermore….are these Thompson gals (Mary Ann 1795 NC & MY Nancy Thompson 1824 NC) connected somehow to the family of Nathan/iel Thompson and his wife Hester/Esther (Y/Gantanaga) Black? I found oodles on her family and wonder if they do in fact connect. Any insight/input would be greatly appreciated. *Thank you in advance!* I have been trying to focus my research attention on NC regions of Jackson & Swain and one other that escapes me at the moment….as there appear to be Thompson, Nichols, Gibson & Black surname connections there. Blessings to all~~~Laurie

November 25, 2008 at 4:13 pm #33011I’m descended from Hester/Esther ” Gantanaga ” Black and Nathan ” Dutch ” Thompson…
Hester Black was born in 1769 and was the daughter of Thomas Black, it is known that she had a sister named Martha Black who married into the Buchanan family.
According to the testimony that was given in the Miller Roll Applications
Hester Black was Indian thru her father Thomas Black, and was born on the Broad River in N.C.
My line of descent…..
Thomas Black—— ?
Hester ” Gantanaga ” Black ——Nathan ” Dutch ” Thompson
Mary Polly Thompson——–Alexander Crisp
Nathan Crisp——-Jane Crisp
Margaret Crisp——Albert A. Mashburn
Caroline Mashburn—– ? Ash
Mary Freeman—–Robert Rogers ( Mary was the product of a rape
Selma Jane Rogers—–Wilburn J. Beard
Verlin Beard—-Mary Thomas
Jeff Beard
Mary Freeman was the product of a rape, and was raised as a Freeman by her step-father John Freeman, her mother and grandfather both applied for the Guion Miller roll, as did 20 something relatives of hers.
