Tommy — I grew up in the South (NC) and I don’t think there is any more racism there than any place else. Just that in the South the racist is not likely to pretend he (or she) is your friend. You are going to know they don’t like you up front. I have been in the presence of people that made racist remarks not realizing that I was in fact a member of that race because I am fair (white looking). May as well call it like it is! In most cases I politely inform them of who I am and they get embrassed and start making excuses.
