Thanks to all for keeping things going while I’ve been so absent. I wish I could say I was all settled in and back in business, but my house can’t be set, it’s too wet. I’ve settled into temporary quarters, and I have some PC virus that’s preventing me from staying connected. I miss you all, and am still waiting for the day I’m up and running again. I’m at the library right now, but better get on home. I’ll catch up on posts as I’m able.
September 27, 2004 at 10:36 pm #10982Oh, some good news. I just happen to be renting a place two doors from old Judge Tisdale’s museum — full of Yesah artifacts. I’m renting from his grandson. I’ll be visiting there in the coming days. This would be a nice vacation spot for anyone looking to visit the old homelands. Keep it in mind. It’s a little lodge with one bedroom apartments right on the main channel in front of (now flooded) Occoneechee island.
September 27, 2004 at 10:36 pm #11005I have only recently learned about those islands. Is that where there are 3 islands, Saponi, Tutero and the one you mentioned? I amslowly learning more and more.
I too am at the library as some virus keeps me frustrated . . .

September 27, 2004 at 10:36 pm #11036Yes, I’m living right now on the bluff that once overlooked Occoneechee island. One account tells of the mountains above the island. Before the island was inundated, this bluff would have been high above it.
September 27, 2004 at 10:36 pm #11053Hello Best wishes on your stay, an ocassional pic’ would be nice to see.
What type of Yesah artifacts are in the museum?
I hope all is well.
September 27, 2004 at 10:36 pm #11054I’m waiting to find out. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll get to see it.
September 27, 2004 at 10:36 pm #11057Hi all! Good to see you weren’t totally flooded off the mountain with all the Hurricanes…but some dry weather will help, yes? How was the DC march and events? I desperately wanted to go but finances went horribly for us leading up to the week.
I am not familiar with the Yeshah(sp) name. Is it for a village of social/language group within the Saponi? My AOL program woudl not allow entry to the Saponi site for the last 6 weeks…..maybe it’s a similiar problem to the viruses you all have. My AOl is on my MAC, so viruses are USUALLY not a problem, but something very odd happened to mine 6 weeks back. Hope all of your virus probs work out! 🙂
September 27, 2004 at 10:36 pm #11058Hi Linda,
I am sorry to hear your Home was damaged by all the recent storms. I remember in the past you were surrounded by water but your place was dry. I hope you get everything back to normal soon.

September 27, 2004 at 10:36 pm #11073Hey Craig, good to hear from you! Actually, my home is fine, no storm damage, I’ve just left it behind, awaiting a new home being built in Clarksville, VA. I’m renting a place right now from a cousin of yours. You have a certain famous female Ancestor in common, you know who I’m talking about.
