Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
I’ve been meaning to mention to you that one line of my Hudson’s, the ones mentioned (and pictured) in this thread, http://www.saponitown.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=331&highlight=hudson were a long line of preachers.
The Maranda pictured there was ancestor to a distant, elderly cousin of mine who is retired from the ministry, herself. She grew up on the Rosebud reservation. Her parents were missionaries there. She still has girlhood friends there. She told me that her family had been in the ministry as far back as Maranda, perhaps further, I need to dig up her letter.
Is this another spot where our families dovetail?
Linda,
Well, let’s see. We both have Harris, Potter, similar places, including the Rosebud reservation. I found a Sinkey on the 1910 census there, living as the laborer of the Mitchell family, another of my names. The Potters had many ministers, as did the Cooleys. However, if you explore, many of my names were names of ministers, Presbyterian, Moravian, and Quaker.
In fact, I found something that stated that Hudson was interchangable with Huston. My Hustons came from PA to Ohio to Iowa.

BTW, Linda,
Did you know that Hudson was the name that the husband of Catherine Montour was known by? They lived in a similar location in PA to your people and my people. I researched this when I found that Hutson and Hudson were considered interchangeable. See http://www.rootsweb.com/~srgp/families/montour.htm .
