LOL There was and still are a big cluster of Nottoway and Tuscarora families in and all around Saratoga. The Bass lines are there to (Nansemond). This is were my grandfather came from.

I did not figure this would be of interest to many since most of the people who would be interested still live there…:) See where I am from is still pretty much off the beaten path. Probably because we are pretty exclusionary and suspicious of outsiders. Things have not changed there in generations. 🙂 Pretty laid back area.

It must be a small town. I passed through Wilson county many a time, and never saw a road sign for Saratoga that I remember. Where in the county is it relative to the city of Wilson?
I lived north of there in Edgecombe County. However I spent time there visiting family. My grandfathers brothers all lived there when I was a child. My grandfather moved into southern Edgecombe to become a policeman there.

What do you mean youv’e never heard of Saratoga? Hahaha. That’s the center of the universe according to my family. LOL Thats where most of my Dad’s side is from (Webbs) his Glovers are from Wilson, Nash, and Edgecombe. According to my family and Linda much of the population there is indian. I think we have a racial isolate group there. It would be nice to get some so-called “experts” to back that up….

yea I can see some racial “experts” stepping foot in Saratoga!!!!:D Now wouldn’t that be laughable just think about it David and you will start rolling on the floor cracking up. I can see it now…………GET OFF OUR LAND!!!!!!!!

Hey,
I asked Mom what she thought the people of Saratoga would say. She said they would tell him we are indian and white now get out of here. OMG don’t approach a Rogers with any sterotypical racial questions. You’s be an hour trying to get away after they corner you and give you a piece of their minds one after another. And yea I will talk about my own family that way. They remind me of our cousins down in Robeson or should I say the folks in Robeson remind me of us LOL Just plain crazy 😀

I’ve been reading an excellent report (more like a good sized book) written by a professor from Duke. It discusses Tuscarora history in North Carolina, much of it I didn’t know. It also states that several Tuscaoras families settled in Edgecome and Wilson Counties (after being uprooted they returned home). This is one of the first sources by and expert I have found which states this (although we all know it). He spends most of his time describing the history of Robeson County Tuscaroras. Very good read.

my family comes from a town call Windsor NC the place is called Indian woods i’ve been there many of times it still is a place that don’t have there Greg
