May 31, 2007 at 5:44 pm #26698LOL…yep, them Moores are a different bunch. Ken and I both have Person county Moores…I would have to pull up my research, but, I am sure some of it is still on here. Yep, they were mixed bloods although there are many people in our county that would not want to acknowledge that fact. But, you can’t change history, nor would I want to, necessarily. They were well respected and hard workers.
May 31, 2007 at 5:44 pm #26700this is all the “whispers” I have heard in my Moore lines
Joel Price and Nancy Evans…well Price Saponi Evans Tuscarora
then there is the Robbins who descend from the Battle, Hunter, Bearse line and whispers of Narragansetts here
Then the Sessums were called to court in Bertie County to prove they were “white” LOL
Then the Etheridges have indian stories all over the place in this family….one of the Etheridges in Wilson County (our neck of the woods) has been fighting with the gov’t about his rights as a descendent of the Tuscarora Indians.
As you can see my Moore line is crazy full of indian stories and when I told my family I was going to look for the source of all the stories i was told to look at the Moores and Etheridges…will the Moores I can track the Etheridges (especially the wives) are very hard to track. My great grandmother Nancy L. Moore is said to have been nearly a full blood indian… her father a Moore her mother a Etheridge…. I have a lot of info about my gggrandfather John W. Moore and he was one heck of a man fought with Pickett’s charge at Gettysburg and managed the Poor House in Wilson for the poor infirm of the county. This is a real hard working family.
